PIPA for inflatables

What is PIPA?

The Professional Inflatable Play Association is a ‘not for profit’ organisation who currently trains and examines new inflatable inspectors.

Just inspectors?

Currently - Yes. The scheme was set up to create a database of tested inflatables to ensure people could demonstrate they were fulfilling their statutory duty under PUWER and HASAWA.

However, in recent years PIPA (along with another testing scheme - ADIPS, who cover mostly showman equipment and some rides) has become recognised by HSE as an official testing scheme for inflatables.

Does PIPA cover all inflatables ?

No - it only covers inflatables which are covered by EN14960 (part1)

Why have castles tested under the PIPA scheme?

PIPA provides the necessary assurance that the person inspecting the inflatable is a competent person. It has systems in place to routine check the reports being produced to ensure the inspections are conducted correctly.

LJ hire only uses the PIPA scheme to ensure our equipment remains safe to use each year.
