Ormskirk Town Road Sign

Ormskirk is a historical market town in West Lancashire. It is 13 miles north of Liverpool and 18 miles south-west of Preston.

It is the main town for the surrouding villages of Aughton, Bickerstaffe, Scarisbrick, Burscough, Lathom and Halsall. The only other major town within West Lancashire is Skelmersdale.

There continues to be a market twice a week in the town centre under the historical clock tower.

A few major features of Ormskirk include:
- Ormskirk Train Station, which connects the Merseyrail Network Line and the Ormskirk - Preston single track line
- Its Gingerbread, and there is an annual gingerbread festival held in the town centre
- Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul. It is the oldest building in the town and said to contain some fragments of Norman architecture.
